If you are new to the world of foraging, or just getting started and need some practice remembering and identifying everyday plants then this course is for you. This is a short walk around a local area (locations may vary) to see what the plantlife has to offer. The pace will be relaxed and the information provided will be aimed primarily at those who are new to foraging however you may still wish to bring along a notepad and pen as we often have plenty of information to give.
Earth ovens are one of the oldest ovens known to history. Made from a mixture of clay and sandy soil, the oven sets naturally and requires nothing to support it.
This course will teach you how to build an oven for yourself. It will provide you with all the basic information and give you valuable hands-on experience out there stamping in the mud.
Cob ovens make great garden structures and are the highlight of any party, gathering or social event. It’s easy to make once you know how all you need is some good stomping boots and friends to help you.
This course can take up to 15 people maximum, you can sign up on your own or as a group. Lunch will be provided on the day (please advise of any intolerances or allergies and we promise to accommodate them).
Course leader Stephanie or Alan will take you through the steps to making a simple but effective round basket using willow wands. All the tools and willow will be provided on the day and participants will be able to take home their finished basket.
If you have ever wanted to make your own willow baskets, this course is for you and in 3 hours you will know everything you need to in order to make your own willow basket – and you will already have one made!
Once you have made your own round willow basket the possibilities are endless and you can start experimenting with size, weaves, handles, shape… it’s easy!
This course is bookings only with limited spaces to ensure we have enough materials on the day for everyone to make their own round basket. Once the willow is prepared it must be used, because of this we cannot accept cancellations within 5 days prior to the course date in most circumstances.
Hot drinks will be provided, weather may be chilly!
This course is not suitable for children.
